Green Ledger Systems exists because I spent 15 years building dispensary operations from the ground up — in a market with no rulebook, through regulatory changes nobody saw coming, and through every version of the problems operators are still dealing with today.

Where it started

In 2009, I became the Founding General Manager of Medithrive — one of the first fully built-out, professionally operating cannabis dispensaries in the country.

There was no playbook. There were no industry standards to follow, no consultants to call, no template to borrow. So we built everything ourselves: the operational systems, the inventory controls, the staff structure, the financial framework. From scratch.

Medithrive was an immediate success — not by accident, but because we treated it like what it was: a serious retail business that happened to sell cannabis. The model we built became a reference point that others looked to. I'm proud of that.

Building the Financial Infrastructure

In 2013, I co-founded Bloom Room as Founding General Manager and partner. By 2016, I had taken on full Controller responsibilities — which meant I needed to get very serious, very fast, about the financial side of the operation.

That's when I brought in my parents.

Both CPAs and bookkeepers with a combined 80 years of accounting experience and thousands of clients across every kind of business imaginable, they had seen — in exquisite detail — what best-in-class financial management looked like, and what it looked like when it collapsed. Together, we spent years translating that knowledge into financial and operational systems built specifically for cannabis retail.

We consulted with some of the foremost cannabis accountants in California. We studied 280E tax law inside and out — building frameworks that are fully compliant but aggressive in reducing federal income tax liability. We didn't guess at what worked. We built, tested, refined, and built again.

Our systems have been tested by the IRS. They've been reviewed by the CDTFA. They held.

Over the past decade, we've refined this infrastructure across two locations, multiple regulatory cycles, and every kind of market condition California throws at cannabis operators. The systems have been adopted by dispensaries throughout California and beyond.
